Time to Shine! Chanukah Blog Hop

Time to shine! Chanukah is a time to celebrate freedom. We celebrate that the ancient Jewish people won the battle to practice their religion freely. When cleaning the Holy Temple, after its destruction, they found only enough holy oil left to light the eternal flame for one day. But a miracle happened; the oil burned for 8 days until the messenger was able to return with more. To honor that miracle, it is traditional to place the Chanukah menorah in the window for all to see.

I used the clear Wink of Stella to create the shine on the menorah, in the window, and on the sentiment. The Hearth and Home Thinlits die in whisper white and crumb cake, along with paper from the Serene Scenes pack made the perfect backdrop for the menorah to shine! I traced the outline from the scalloped thinlit in the Home Sweet Home Thinlits die set to create the curtain edging on Serene Scene paper, then snipped it out with paper snips. Stamp sets: menorah from Every Occasion and “Celebrate” from Endless Birthday Wishes.

Here's a close up of the window:

You can see that I used the Soft Sky Stampin' Write marker to trace over the candles on the Crumb Cake menorah, and the gold Wink of Stella for the flames.

This was a fun card to make! I can't wait to send some to my friends and family. To shop for these Stampin' Up supplies at my online store, click this link:
